CastHaul

Re-imagined, re-designed, improved Mini Binkley replacement hitch.

Improved design.

We worked closely with our existing customers in the Northern Alberta oilfield who have built hundred of trucks over the past 25 years with 5th wheel hitches. This direct market feedback allowed us to fill the gap in the market that was left when the mini Binkley hitch was discontinued years ago.

However just filling the gap was not going to cut it for us, or our customers!

The feedback we received allowed us to strengthen and simplify the design, eliminate all welded parts that could fatigue, lighten the overall weight from 60 lbs to 48 lbs  and make it easily serviceable in the future if needed.

Cast from QT-500-7 Ductile Nodular Iron, we are pleased with it's performance in all situations, including cold weather. Making the CastHaul hitch strong and durable, each hitch is cast, then machined to our specifications.

Rigorously tested to meet the SAE International - J2638 standard.

SAE-J2638 is the standard that establishes the minimum performance criteria for gooseneck and fifth-wheel hitches up to 30,000 lbs.  At this stage, the standard is a 'recommended practice' and not a requirement to sell or use a trailer hitch.  We choose to send the CastHaul hitch to the Clark Testing facilities in Michigan, USA for cycle testing.

The CastHaul hitch completed 300,000 cycles in each direction, meeting the required loads for the entirety of each segment, and was capable of being uncoupled and coupled at the end of the test and showed little to no wear.
Based on these results the fifth wheel passed the requirements of SAE J2638.

*Testing certification documents are available upon request.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the bolt pattern for mounting?

The CastHaul hitch has a rectangular bolt pattern that is 9" wide x 6" tall. We can send you a to scale PDF for a drill template if needed. See drawings below.

Is mounting hardware provided?

There is no mounting hardware included with the hitch, however the hitch mounts with (4) 3/4" grade 8 Bolts, which has a rating of 50,000 lbs per bolt, torque to the bolt spec.

If you require a weld on application, we recommend attaching the hitch to a 3/8" steel plate with (4) 3/4" grade 8 Bolts, then welding the plate to the place you intended to mount the hitch. This will allow you to bolt the hitch to a plate and not fatigue the hitch material in any way. WE DO NOT RECCOMEND WELDING THE HITCH AT ALL, ANY HITCHES WELDED COULD FAIL AND WILL NOT BE WARRANTIED AND CAST HAUL INC. WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ISSUES ARISING FROM A WELDED HITCH.

What is the warranty period?

CastHaul hitches are warranties for a 1 year period against manufacture defects from date of purchase.

Does the hitch come painted?

Yes it is powder coated, however the paint will wear off on the hitch plate surface with usage, there is no warranty for paint wear.

What are the hitch maintenance requirements?

We recommend a visual inspection of your CastHaul hitch each time before you tow as part of your complete vehicle walk around. Be sure to use grease between your hitch pin and top plate as your conditions require. A light spray of a lubricant may be needed on the pressed in pins on the floating surface.  A visual check of your CastHaul product before each trailer hook up ensures overall vehicle safety and long life of your CastHaul hitch. It may be several years until the pins need to be replaced or start to seize, again some simple maintenance will avoid any future issues. Replacement parts are available, see parts break down for your specific needs.
